Oh my god its been so hot….
Not good when you are starting what we are doing
Kaff has spent the entire week continuing to find the garden and has managed it. I would have given up and sat with a beer.
Additions to the “Found out the back” list are as follows
- 2 more toy cars
- Mobile phone
- Small battery razor
- Large flat metal file
- 5lb Lump hammer
- Large flat blade screw driver
I think that may be it for a while now as we seem to have found all corners of the garden!!!
Ordered a 6yd skip to be delivered on Friday, think we should have gone for a bigger one. Kaff spent all afternoon Friday filling it with the grass and weeds and I think it will fill it just with that stuff. Probably gonna need a second one for the rest of the junk
While moving the huge pile of wood from the back wall of the house we found a mouse nest under the last plank. Looked like Mum, Dad and about 4 or 5 babies. Quickly replaced the plank and left them to it. However checked the following day and it seems the nest is now empty, so hoping they have moved the babies somewhere safer. Couldn’t see any dead ones so fingers crossed
Work has started on the Utility room and downstairs loo
Having found the drain last week, I was able to jet wash the room out and wash all remaining puppy left overs down the drain. Also have sealed the drain that’s in the passageway too so now stink free!!!
Walls have been built and started to board it out in rediness for the plasterer. Had a quote from one, but he cannot do it until the 21st so have another coming Monday and he can do the 18th so fingers crossed he will be a reasonable price
Had a second boiler chap out to quote too and also an electrician in as I want to get the consumer unit upgraded and tested. Still waiting for those prices though.
Will add some photos, but they need converting to jpeg’s first, will update soon.
Finally this week, we have been hunting for a camper van since we got here and I mean hunting. Kaff mostly but me also have been trawling eBAy, Facebook marketplace and Gumtree for a camper. I would love to be able to spend £30K on one, but we didn’t have that sort of budget, but oh my word, there have been so many cons out there it is unbelievable…
“Send £50 deposit and you can come and look”
“Send money to secure bank and we’ll deliver it”
Then of course, there are the ones that actually exist, but have been to Timbuctu and back, are falling apart and everything is held together with Gaffer tape….and they still want £12K for it.
“It’s only done 34, 000 miles…honest!!” Yeah right, looks more like 234,000 miles.
Went and looked at a couple, but decided against them, however finally we have placed a deposit on a 1999, FIAT Ducato medium wheelbase 4 berth camper today with everything working, reasonable condition for age and a nearly new “Driveaway” Air awning too. Owned by a lovely local retired couple who are changing to a caravan and it turns out the chap went to school with our nextdoor but one neighbour, so small world. Filled me with a little more confidence to purchase when owned by an older couple like them.
Sorted the insurance on it this evening and will pick it up on Monday. Photos to follow, when we get it back here. Boy am I glad that hunt is over
Off to bed now, as I have a return trip to Poole tomorrow to collect the stuff we had to leave in Sam’s garage
