Been a hectic few weeks
Sam came up last weekend to start digging the foundations for the conservatory, massive help, but due to spending Saturday morning unloading the conservatory from the van we didn’t get them completely dug so will be carrying on with that when time permits
Made some good progress though
Was tempted to fill it back in!!

Had a few challenges with the worktops. They are Compact Laminate and it would seem are not easy to install. I don’t have the tools (or the knowledge!) to do them so advertised on Checkatrade for someone to do them for me
Got a few responses and went with a chap who seemed to know what he was doing. Paid a deposit ( needed to order in a diamond blade for his router – as they tend to do one each time they install these tops). Booked job in for Saturday last week and all good. We had so do a couple of really long days to get units in ready for him, but got there. Messaged him the night before and he confirmed 9am so looked good. 9am came and went and no show, messaged him and he started making excuses about mixing jobs up and getting let down by a subcontractor, blah, blah!!
After several curt messages he said he would refund me
Kathy had another chap who said he could do them, so we spoke to him and he said he could come the following day. He then messaged first thing on the Sunday and said he would have to change it to Tuesday. That day came and he blocked Kaff on Facebook and never showed up
Finally got a third chap to come and take a look on Tuesday afternoon and he said he would be there first thing to fit them. Thankfully he showed up and after two days – Yep, two days, he got them installed including sink, tap and hole cut for the hob. What a flipping nightmare!!
I have installed the upstands and got the dishwasher installed on Friday
Still got flooring to be done and the kick boards, but hopefully this week will see that done too.
Radiator is now in the kitchen (could have done with it a week ago with the recent weather), just need some doors now to stop the drafts. Hopefully will get some on the week also
Weather has got really cold in recent days so will be glad when more radiators are in and doors on, but we woke up to our first snow today
Just to end, Harley got involved in the painting again too
