Been a busy few weeks since my last post
We have had a weekend down in Dorset for Sam’s birthday and to catch up with friends and family
Weather was really wild, loads of rain and windy on the Sunday night too. Camper was brilliant, had no issues and had a lovely view waking up parked at Lake Pier
Have stripped out the old kitchen now
Then the old heating hot water tank went and I could knock the wall down
Cupboards were all ripped out
Had one of those Kitchen rules messages on the wall, but I couldn’t resist “modifying” it
But it will be plastered over this week
Sam came up for a few days last week and made a huge difference helping to knock out all the back boxes for the power sockets and getting the room ready to be plastered (which was started on Thursday and will be finished on Monday)
Had a bit of bad news last weekend. Was sat waiting for Kathy and Sam to get ready before we went out to eat on Sunday and could hear a helicopter buzzing overhead. I have the Flightradar 24 app on my phone so took a look and realised the Air Ambulance was circling and came in to land not too far from here just off the main Spalding to Bourne rd
Turns out there had been a head on smash between a car and a van between Twenty and Bourne.
Road remained closed until the following day and we then heard that the van driver was our friend Tony
He was airlifted to Queens Medical Centre in Nottingham, with shattered pelvis, ankle and multiple rib fractures
Latest news is, he is having multiple operations to fix pelvis and ankle but still too early to tell how he’ll be long term
Needless to say we are thinking of him and wish him all the best.
Back to the house
Once plastering done we will be flat out getting kitchen installed, hence it now feels like we have turned a corner as we can now start reinstating things
Once we have cleaned up the mess from the plasterer though 😳🙈
Shed is now tidier, also I have ordered the armoured cable to get the power run in to it, that should be done this week too.
Bag of gravel delivered and laid onto driveway, so hopefully Sam won’t get his car stuck trying to get off the drive. We didn’t have an issue, but we both drive 4 x4’s 💁
Went to view a conservatory on Friday and have paid a deposit with a view to going and taking it down the week commencing the 20th
Really tidy conservatory that has only been up few years, but the current owners are having a huge extension built so it’s got to go.
Mark from next door and friend Darren (who used to install them) are coming with me to dismantle it and bring it back, so there will be loads of photos from that little project
Just trying to get sensible quotes in for the base construction, but all coming in ridiculously high, but may have a solution with a Durabase steel frame base. More detail as we go on. Hoping to get it in before Xmas but time is getting tight now
Mark and Abbie next door had bred their Fluffy French Bulldog with a stud dog, hoping for some lovely pedigree pups, but after a quick dash to the vets the other night for an emergency C-Section they now have 10 lovely puppies……that were clearly fathered by their Labrador Frankie! He has been forgiven, but may be losing his nuts soon 😳🙈
Trying to figure out what they’ll be called – French Bulldog cross Labrador. = French Doors ??
Ripped out the old wood burner as now disconnected and what a mess behind it – seems they never had an ashtray !!
Also got the call from Homebase last week as all our kitchen appliances have been made ready for us to collect so we now have Oven, Microwave Combo oven, Dishwasher, Hob and Extractor sitting in the corner of the living room too.
Finally got an MOT on the Nissan last week, so can now board out the loft (loft boards were stored in the back of it, and I forgot to get them out before it went in for the last of the work)🙈
Hoping to see the Northern Lights tonight, lots of solar activity in recent days should all reach our atmosphere tonight and people have been posting photos recently from all around here so hoping to fulfill lifelong dream tonight and actually see them 🤞
I’ll post some photos if I can see them
Thanks for looking
